French Roulette Rules
In French Roulette each pocket on the wheel has
a number from 0 to 36; pockets are black or red in colour. Payouts are
made according to the type of bet that is placed. The extra advantage
when playing French Roulette is called La Partage. When a player has
placed an Even Money Bet and the ball lands on zero, the La Partage
rule applies, which means that he will only lose half of the amount bet.
Rules of How to Play French Roulette
The rules of French Roulette are very simple and much like any other
Roulette game, except for the addition of Call Bets. The most important
thing to remember is that the rules are based on the type of bet that
the player places. The amount a player wins depends on the type of bet
that was placed and the coin size of the bet. There are three main
types of bets: Inside Bets, Outside Bets and Call Bets. Inside Bets are
bets that take place inside the betting grid and pay out higher odds.
Outside Bets are bets that are placed outside of the betting grid and
incorporate a larger amount of numbers; so the odds are naturally
lower.

Call Bets is the term given for a group of Bets
placed together on the table and the Call Bets function is used. There
are many different types of Call Bets as detailed below that
incorporate the different number of chips placed per bet.
How to Win At French Roulette
As mentioned briefly the way a player can win depends on where the
ball lands when the wheel is spun and what sort of bet or bets he
places at the beginning of the game. There are a number of different
types of bets that can be placed as explained below:
- Straight Up Bet or Single Number Bet - A straight bet pays out the
highest odds. It is a bet on a single number only. To signify the bet,
the chip is placed in the centre of the square of that number. A
straight bet has odds of 35:1.
- Upwards and Sideways Double or Split Bet - this is as it
sounds, the player is able to split his bet between two numbers. This
bet is also known as a Two-Number bet. The odds for this type of bet
are 17:1.
- Three in a Row or Street Bet - This is a bet on any three
numbers in a row that are grouped together. All of the numbers from the
wheel are laid out on a grid like table where the player can place his
bet. A row is made up of three numbers across so this gives the player
a chance to bet on three numbers in one go. The odds for this are 11:1.
- Box of Four or Square Bet - This is a bet on a block of four
numbers on the grid. The numbers all have to be adjacent. This type of
bet has odds of 8:1. The chip which will signify the bet is placed at
the middle meeting point of the four squares.
- Box of Six or Line Bet -.This bet is placed on six numbers
that are in rows of three next to each other. The chip is placed on the
line above the Dozen bets and it rests between the two rows that the
player is betting on. The odds for this bet are 5:1.
- A Column Bet - as it sounds is a bet placed on one of the columns. It pays out odds of 2:1. This is an Outside Bet.
- A Dozen Bet - There are three types of Dozen Bets in French
Roulette and each one pays out odds of 2:1. A Premiere 12 Bet is placed
on the first twelve numbers, i.e. 1-12 and to signify this, the chip is
placed on the area marked P12. The Moyenne 12 is the middle 12 numbers
i.e. 13-24 and the chip is placed on the square marked M12. The
Derniere 12 bet is a bet placed on the last dozen numbers i.e. 25-36
and the chip is placed on the D12 square.
- Even-Money Bet - this is the bet with the lowest odds it just
pays 1:1 which means the player, if he wins redeems the bet he placed
and the same again. This is a bet placed on 18 numbers in one go There
are six types of Even Money Bets in French Roulette as follows:
- Manqué 1to18 bet - the chip is placed on manqué 1 to18 square and signifies a bet on the first 18 numbers
- Passé 19to36 - this is a bet on the last eighteen numbers i.e. 19 to 36 and the chip is placed on the Passé 19 to 36 square.
- Pair Even Bet - is as it sounds a bet on the eighteen even numbers and the chip is placed on the Pair Even Square.
- Impair Odd bet - this is the opposite of the Pair Even Bet and
is a bet on all of the odd numbers. It is placed on the Impair Odd
square.
- Red Bet - this is a bet on all of the red numbers and the chip is placed on the red diamond.
- Black Bet - this is a bet on all of the black numbers and the chip is placed on the black diamond.
Finally there are Call Bets of which there are many as
described in the terms and definitions. Call bets are a group of bets
placed on different numbers, for a Call Bet, the Call Bet button needs
to be pressed.
It must be remembered that each bet has a maximum betting limit.
